Kindy progress

We have been going to kindy now for just over a month and things are going well. The first 3 weeks saw me staying with Tommy the whole time and getting to know the teachers, other children and kindy.
We spent lots of time cutting, gluing, painting, playing in the water tray and having a ball in the sandpit. But soon it was time to let Tommy be there by himself, so we ventured off on a Monday morning with the knowledge that mummy would stay for a while and then leave Tommy to play. I left at 2pm with Tommy kicking and screaming a tantrum - apparently for 20 of the 40mins I was away. The next day it only lasted 5 mins, then 3 mins, then only 1 minute! The week was over and we were all exhausted, but very proud of ourselves for having done it!
The next two weeks saw mummy staying till just after 1pm and coming back at 2.30pm for home time. Tommy loved his time and became used to relying on other adults for support and cuddles if he ever got upset.
Then last week, there were no tears and on Thursday and Friday I got waved away with a "see you at packing up time mummy!". WOW, is this our little man?!
Then this week, yesterday and today all I got was "you can go now mummy, have fun at work and see you at packing up time!". I was out the door by 12.50pm who could believe this was our little man that according to the last caregiver, Tommy was a child with "major play and social problems and we needed to see a play psychologist"

So, here is Tommy ready, willing and able to go to kindy - very excited about going to see his teachers at kindy (Jeanette, Julie and Tommy's favourite, Jane)

Hey!! Way to Go !!! I don't know if I should be congratulating Thomas or you Jo.

Jo do you think Thomas has earned the new book of Thomas the Tank Engine telling the time? Then he will be able to work out when it is time to go to kindy.

Don't forget to catch up on our blog at school.

Pretty great aye! Congrats to both of us, team effort. We actually follow the same patterns from lunchtime onwards so he knows what is coming. He even waits in the carseat while I gather things together and talks about kindy and Jane all the way there!
He is definitely tired by the time I pick him up at 2.45pm, we don't get to mat time yet - but it will all come in good time. Maybe a new book to enjoy at quiet time when we get home and have a traffic light iceblock (T's favourite at the moment, tells me what each of the colours are for too, also while we are driving) would be nice.
Chat soon, and will definitely check out the school blog.
Love Jo xoxo

Waiting for the next entry but I guess all good things come to those who wait. Looking forward to your birthday weekend.
